Here's the PR on the event…

AS A WORLD'S FIRST,

GOLD COAST MAGICIAN TAKES

HIS SELF MADE MOVIE TO THE BIG SCREEN

Troy Star has definitely achieved "local identity" status after 10 years in the local pubs, clubs and restaurant circuit as "that amazing magician".

But all that changed as his status was elevated to movie star and movie producer when his movie "TROY STAR – Fake It Till You Make It" hit the big screen at Birch Carroll and Coyle Cinema Complex at Pacific Fair at 7pm on October 3, 2008.

Not only is this a first for Troy as movie star and movie producer, it is also definitely a world's first for an untrained and inexperienced amateur to take full charge of pre-production, production, post production and  distribution of a full length feature film movie.  He has taken the project from conception to exhibition single handedly after emerging himself in intense private study and with only some technical support from film students and industry insiders keen to lend a hand.

This movie is totally unique in other ways too.  It is a movie with no actors, no scripts, no rehearsals, no retakes, no sets, no props and no costumes.

It is just a great raw reality show about Troy's fascinating real life experiences as he travels around the world in search of a taste of the big time, his unplanned encounters with a wide range of people in 9 cities around the world including 1997 Academy Award winning Best Supporting Actor, Cuba Gooding Jr, 4-time NBA Champion Shaquille O'Neil and Ja Rule, American rapper/actor who has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Troy's movie is not just a low budget film. It is a no budget film.  For four years, Troy spent money only on absolute essentials from tips which he got from customers as he performed his magic tricks on restaurant patrons while making the movie at the same time.

But it all paid off in the end as the final result was quite amazing. Troy immediately decided to somehow have the movie released on the big screens at the mainstream commercial cinemas.

The local rumour mill spread the word that there was going to be a Gold Coast first - a Hollywood style red carpet gala event that will be the World Premiere at Birch Carroll and Coyle at Pacific Fair.  Then, all of a sudden, Troy's mobile phone was ringing hot for days enquiring about tickets.

Troy cracked under pressure and told a few callers that he would be picking up the tickets the next day from the post office.

Some unknown crazed fan actually went into the post office and signed for all 429 tickets.  So new tickets had to be printed.  An official investigation is now underway by Australia Post.

Another hurdle that Troy had to jump was that his mobile continued to ring hot after all tickets were given out.  Birch Carroll and Coyle had to actually open a second cinema to accommodate the growing number of fans.  The number of people expected on the big night escalated to a massive 634.

The impressive response had sponsors beckoning making it possible to have a prescreening cocktail reception serving Sushi Train and Fermented Grape finger food and Bacardi cocktails. There were 9 roving magicians and celebrity look-alikes on the night with an after party at Club Twenty1.

There was a media junket on Circle on Cavill on Wednesday the 1st October between 12.30pm and 2pm followed by a fun oriented promotional motorcade with bikini girls and celebrity look-alikes.
