THE Gold Coast Multicultural Arts Group In Collaboration (Gold Coast MAGIC) have published a new stimulating and innovative book called 'Undulating' to be launched at the Gold Coast City Council Chambers on Friday, August 15, 2008.
Beautifully written and presented, a first-time undertaking by Gold Coast MAGIC of a collection of stories from people of Culturally And Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, otherwise known as CALD.
This exceptional book keeps the reader riveted and yearning to discover all the exquisite intricate stories of the 11 senior citizens featured. The story tellers share their incredible experiences through embracing new land, love, complexities, passions, torment and much more.
The book is the product of an 'Expression Through Story Telling' project which was submitted by GC MAGIC and funded by the Queensland Government.
The aim is to highlight the achievements of migrants who have left their beloved homeland, battled for their goals and made a better life not only for themselves but for their children as well as the society they live in. The product of this project is the book 'Undulating' and photo exhibition. This is a source of community awareness for the wider community to understand and appreciate the richness of a culturally diverse society.
Christine Smith, Member for Burleigh, will launch the newly published book 'Undulating' and its photographic exhibition by AA Xposé Media director Aldwyn Altuney at a special opening which will be held from 6pm on Friday, August 15, 2008 in the foyer of the Gold Coast City Council Chambers at 135 Bundall Road, Bundall.
The Undulating exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from 8am to 4pm from Monday, August 18 to 21, 2008, inclusive.
