An Island Hideaway wins ABIA Awards

An Island Hideaway Co-director and Wedding Co-ordinator Michele Del Biancosaid business at An Island Hideaway on South Stradbroke Island had grown 50% in the first 12 months and 20% each financial year after that.

"For the 2010-2011 financial year, it looks set to achieve a 25% gain," she said.

The venue, known as 'the Gold Coast's best kept secret', was announced as winner of the prestigious Queensland Awards for Best Ceremony Venue and Best In-House Wedding Advisor, by brides at the Australian Bridal Institute of Australia (ABIA) awards.

It was honoured at the 12th Queensland Annual Bridal Industry Awards in Brisbane on August 17, 2010, and has entered the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards for September 2010.

Ms Del Bianco said she was extremely proud of the achievement, especially when 1571 wedding suppliers were nominated for the awards.

"It is a huge honour to be selected as finalists and we are thrilled to win these two awards," she said.

The venue also came close second for this year's Best Reception Centre and finalist for Best Wedding Cake Design and Wedding Special Services.

It started in March 2007 as a collaboration of co-directors Romano Del Bianco, his daughter Michele, long-term team member Wayne Marsh and Ben Owen. Romano started the award-winning Spirit of Gold Coast whale watching tours in 2001 in Tweed Heads, introducing whale watching to far north NSW and south-east Queensland.
