We have about 20 acts confirmed for the 2008 Animal Action Day at the Gold Coast Rugby Union Football Club (Eagles) & James Overell Park, Brighton Parade, today (October 5, 2008) from 10am to 5pm.
AA Day founder Aldwyn Altuney is available to be interviewed all day today on 0409 895 055 for media interested in covering the event.
This is a great free community event with packed entertainment – all for the animals.
A 5 minute DVD of last year's event is on You Tube – just search 'Animal Action Day'. Big thanks to William and Karen List for organising this and to Kat & Peter Turner for sponsoring the video last year.
We're looking for more stall holders & raffle prizes for this year's event. It's free to have a stall, we're just asking for a donation of minimum $20 (preferably) for David Fleay Wildlife Park. Everyone who comes on board will get a free web listing indefinitely on this site & you don't have to promote animal related products. 12-12.15pm- Puppia Best Dressed Owner Pet Look-alike Competition, judged by Gold Coast modelling industry celebrity Margo Mott.

2-2.15pm- Serendipity Talent performer Samantha Naday, 13, will sing contemporary songs from the likes of Delta Goodrem

ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE FOR INDOOR STAGE AT EAGLES CLUB (Changes may be made on the day) MC will be best-selling author/ big cat conservationist and children's philanthropist Lynn Santer.
10-10.30am- MC Lynn Santer welcomes to the stage the first act Raymond Symes, who will sing Neil Diamond songs. Raymond will introduce his friend Graeme Farrell, who will do some Roy Orbison songs.
10.30-11am- By popular demand, we are fortunate to have a return visit by Auntie Lynn who will reveal the many superstars now involved with her philanthropic children's entertainment phenomenon 'Magical Scarecrows'. She has recently been nominated for a 2008 Pride of Australia medal. Surprise footage will be screened and a special Magical Scarecrows prize pack will be up for grabs to help raise funds for two vital causes – Kids Who Read Succeed and David Fleay Wildlife Park.
11am-11.30am- Samasathi will talk about healing animals with reiki and shiatsu.
11.30-12.30- Documentary screening about how acting lions from the immortal classic film Born Free were re-introduced to the wild after the film. Opportunity to win your own Born Free adoption of a rescued lion.
12.30-1.30pm- Serendipity Talent performers.

2-3.30pm- Witness the life adventures of Australia's original wild man and wildlife warrior Alby Mangels. This is a never before seen autobiography with his official biographer Lynn Santer on hand to answer questions and take orders for his biography after the screening. $5 from every sale of the Alby Mangels biography Beyond World Safari goes to David Fleay's.
3.30-3.50pm- Land of the Free talk and short film screening. Adults only – over 18 for the screening.
3.50-4pm- Lynn Santer will draw the winners for her three raffles – Land of the Free (3 books valued at $20 each), Born Free adoption prize (valued at $75) and Magical Scarecrows prize pack (valued at $250).

* The 'world's greatest entertainer' Troy Star did close up roving magic at the Animal Action Day on October 5, 2008, at James Overall Park, Brighton Parade, Southport, from noon to 2pm. The performance came fresh from his world premiere TROY STAR: Fake It Till You Make It screening at Birch Carroll and Coyle Pacific Fair cinemas on October 3 at 6pm. * Xena the Warrior Princess look-alike/impersonator (aka Robyn Smartt) went looking for warriors to join her army to help save the world.
Here's a poem she wrote especially for you… "In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cries out for a hero.... she was Xena, a mighty princess, forged in the heat of battle, the power, the passion, the danger, her courage will change the world."
* Smiley the environmental clown did face painting on the day, with proceeds going to David Fleay Wildlife Park. She is dedicated to preserving the habitat for all species and painted animal faces on kids and adults who are adventurous. * All Fired Up fire dancer Shine looked fantastic in his rainbow gear, along with good mate Guy (DJ extraordinaire from the Loft on Thursday nights).

* Fitness Connection offered to do a bootcamp style training session on the day. Fitness Connection personal trainer Stewart Cary turned up and manned a stand for the day with the lovely Wendy. Huge thanks to them for their generous prizes as well.

* Ponies Ponies Ponies and Mobile Animal Farm had about 30-35 cuddly baby animals along, including lamb, goats, calves, ducklings, guinea pigs etc.in their mobile animal farm. The company, based at Cedar Creek near Mt Tamborine, caters for birthday parties, school and pre-school fetes and visits, vacation care, shopping centres, nursing homes and promotions around the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich. * Author/ big cat conservationist Lynn Santer spoke about her covert mission with Hollywood legend Tippi Hedron (Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds) and ex SAS commandos to help save big cats from brutal attrocities. * David Fleay Wildlife Park ranger Amanda Sutton did a 20-minute stage presentation. She had a blue tongue lizard and a snake. After the show, she had a table adjacent to the stage where she talked to people about responsible pet ownership. The theme of Amanda's presentations were 'keeping backyards safe for our native wildlife'. She also had koala pledges which people signed.
* Big thanks to Robin from Serendipity Talent for organising various talented young performers from her books to perform.
