  ANIMAL ACTION DAY 2009 PROGRAM – Threeworlds 3.10.09

MAIN STAGE – In the garden area of Threeworlds

10am- MC/ 2SM radio host Leon Delaney introduces Animal Action Day Founder/ Event Organiser Aldwyn Altuney

10.15am- Welcome by Aldwyn Altuney 

10.45am- Official launch by Councillor Jan Grew

11-12.30pm- COVERS special - Neil Diamond by Raymond Symes, Roy Orbison by Grahame Farrell, Patsy Cline & Queen show by Babs & Lily Spencer, 7, does Queen.

12.30- 1pm- STARS (Screen Theatre & wRiters Studio) founder Nerida Marshall talks about What's Really Happening with Farm Animals in our Own Backyard? The shocking truth revealed.

1-1.30pm – Queensland singer/ guitarist Pete Ahh will perform original tunes from his compilation CD Some of the Best.

1.30pm- raffles/ art auction 2pm- Best Dressed Owner Pet Competition to be judged by celebrity author/ Auntie Lynn Santer, who recently scored a Hollywood movie deal for Aussie legend Alby Mangels after she authored a book on him.

3pm- Path to Success author Jacki Janetzki talks about Taking Action in your Life

3.30-4pm- eco-conservationist/ frog lover Kate Leopold plays original folk music

4-4.30pm- Two in a Rocking Chair perform some great slide guitar with beautiful harmonic vocals

4.30-5pm- Feeling Gr8 Energy speaker/ coach/ author Bev Oliver talks about The Consciousness of Animals and the book Talk to the Animals

5-5.45pm- Shano performs a nice mix of blues 5.45- 6pm - More raffle prizes

6pm- 6.15 - Australian Orangutan Projectvolunteer Tracey Courtney will speak about the plight of orangutans in Indonesia and problems they face being forest clearing by illegal loggers and palm oil plantations.

6.15pm-6.45pm- Queensland singer/ guitarist Pete Ahh will perform songs from his compilation CD Some of the Best and upcoming Jah Band CD, IYUAHH.

6.45pm- Gold Coast co-ordinator Terri Melloway will speak about Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's work in taking direct action to protect all marine creatures worldwide since 1977 and what you can do to help.

7.15pm- 7.50pm -Byron Bay singer songwriter Craig Telfer performs original contemporary rock ballads

7.50-8.30pm – Brisbane conservation musician Sanat (Raymond. G. Oliver)

8.30pm– 9.30pm-  Shoebox duo rock the venue with reggae tunes

9.30pm-10.30pm- Haba Dudes take it up a notch with gypsy jazz

10.30pm - Last raffles

10.45pm- midnight – Sounds of Sun Collective wrap the night up with feel-good soul/ folk/ roots/ reggae. Be prepared to dance, as fire dancer Shine spins his magic. DJ Elemental Guy Sohm will fill in the gaps between the performers/ speakers and everyone is welcome to bring instruments to jam through the night.

ANIMAL FILM FESTIVAL – to be held inside Threeworlds from 11am to midnight

11am-12.30pm- Footage from the last two Animal Action Days, including the five-minute video of the 2007 event that is on You Tube and the one-hour film from AA Day 2008. 

12.30-6.30pm- Animal documentaries by David Attenborough, Environmental Film made on the Gold Coast by Sierra-Sue Mitchell, Land of the Free by Lynn Santer

6.30pm- Orangutan Diaries– documentary about some orangutans that have been rehabilitated and released into the wild on an island in Sumatra, Indonesia

7.30pm- The Cove– about the dolphin killings in Teiji, Japan

9.30pm- Earthlings DVD – about humans treatment of animals over time

*** NB to stall holders: Set up is from 9am on the day. Bring your own tables/ marquees and set up in the perimeter of the carpark and garden area beside Threeworlds, 2558 Gold Coast Highway (near corner of Surfers Avenue). Cars will be directed for parking once you unload your gear. Stalls are free, with commercial stands being asked to donate a minimum of $20 to WSPA. All stall holders and raffle prize donors get a free listing on aaxpose.com. Just email Aldwyn at aldwyn@aaxpose.com one paragraph on what you do with a link to your contact details/ website and she will upload it for you.

*** A HUGE thank you to everyone who supports Animal Action Day 2009 and who supported the last two events. About 30 stall holders will be present, including entertainment for the kids such as a jumping castle by The Fun Team and face painting by Painted Faces. Come along and learn what you can do to make a difference to the plight of animals, as well as celebrate them as fellow 'earthlings' that deserve respect. SEE YOU THERE – with bells on!!
