Journey workshops free for Victorian bushfire victims in Melbourne from February 28-March 1, 2009

Fri Feb 20 2009

Internationally acclaimed US author/ pioneer Brandon Bays, who has personally survived having her house burn down, is offering free places at her upcoming Journey Intensive weekend in Melbourne.

Valued at $695, this will be Brandon's last Australian workshop before she embarks on a 30-country tour for Journey Intensive Weekends in 2009.

The charity arm of The Journey is setting up three free events for kids, teenagers and adults and one on one sessions at the end of March and into April to support people to heal from the emotional devastation and find peace in the core of all suffering.

A weekend workshop will also be held in Sydney from February 21-22,

At the workshops, Brandon will share the powerful work that saw her heal herself without drugs or surgery from a football-sized stomach tumor in just six and a half weeks in 1992. Brandon can particularly relate to the trauma of the Victorian fire victims, as her house in Malibu, US, burned down in 1993 in a firestorm which destroyed 280 homes.

"People not only have to face the huge devastation and grief but also there is a sense that you can't trust life any more," Brandon said.

"For me, it was an invitation to find true home, underneath all the material things that went missing to a love that permeates everything.

"There is amazing generosity going to these victims and it is so important firstly for the survival needs to be met. But in a month or so when the shock has worn off, how do you deal with the emotional devastation?  The Journey is amazing at working with trauma and people going through catastrophe."

Brandon said people were 'reaching out and giving all they could and thankfully these people's material needs will be met over the next little while'.

But for herself, it was when the shock wore off that she and her friends really needed the help and the means to deal with the emotional devastation.

"For me, there wasn't only the huge devastation and grief, I also felt as if I couldn't trust life anymore. I was waiting for the next axe to fall from the sky and take everything as if what is going to happen next!?  Brandon found that her personal devastation was an invitation to find the peace in the core of the suffering and the love that permeates even when the devastation surrounds."

Brandon pioneered the remarkably effective healing method, The Journey, which works directly with trauma and catastrophe.  Her transformational work provides tools, answers, healing and freedom for people no matter what circumstances they face in life.

"In these times, I believe The Journey work is the most important tool people can use,"

"If you know of a friend or family, volunteers, firefighters or rescue workers that would benefit by being supported emotionally during this time, please let them know about The Journey, our offering and get them to call us for support on 1300 30 44 14."

At her workshops, Brandon will set out to shift the fear that has arisen in people from the fires and during the current global economic crisis.

The Journey Australasia director Laurie Collins said more than 40,000 people worldwide had attended Journey Intensive Weekends since the first one was held in 1994.

She said the work had helped thousands of people worldwide free themselves from issues such as fear, anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, chronic anger, physical illnesses and those relating to addictions, sexual abuse, relationship problems and career performance.

"Anyone can achieve extraordinary results, no matter what age, background, culture or upbringing," she said.

The Journey Intensive weekend provides uniquely potent tools for awakening and liberating the infinite human potential. The process is now commonly used in hospitals, doctor surgeries, prisons, schools, addict centres, orphanages, businesses and tribal communities around the world including Australia and New Zealand. In rural South Africa, 11,600 impoverished children received Journey work through Outreach.

"This is not just one woman's story but the journey of every human on this planet and the tools to help us on our way. This is a living example of the human spirit and how one can empower hundreds of thousands to liberate their own potential and to live an inspired life full of grace," Laurie said.

"The stories of healing that come into our offices daily are truly amazing and humbling - people in everyday life situations of suffering, loss of inspiration, lack of hope, knowing deep within that there is something more to life and taking the step to make a change by going within."

Brandon's best-selling book, The Journey, has sold about 54,000 copies in Australia since its publication in 1999. It is published in more than 20 languages and is printed in over 30 countries. The Journey has more than 2000 practitioners worldwide.

At her workshops, Brandon will set out to shift the fear that has arisen in people from the fires and during the current global economic crisis.

She returns to Australia with a manuscript of her upcoming book, Consciousness, The New Currency - Manifesting and Living in Conscious Abundance in an Era of Global Turmoil.

International Journey director Gaby Burt said Brandon would share simple powerful tools that would allow people to make conscious decisions in their lives to support them and have an impact on the greater good of all.

The Journey (published by HarperCollins) retails for $28. Her other books include The Journey for Kids (2003) and her latest offering, Freedom Is (2006).
